Shantelle Quintana, born and raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico, exemplifies a deep-rooted commitment to educational excellence and student well-being. With a Bachelor's degree in Bilingual Elementary Education, she embarked on her journey to empower learners from diverse backgrounds. This foundation laid the groundwork for her subsequent academic pursuits, culminating in a Master's degree in School Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, and Vocational Counseling from New Mexico Highlands University. With her comprehensive academic background, Ms. Quintana possesses a unique blend of pedagogical expertise and counseling proficiency, enabling her to address the holistic needs of students with empathy and efficacy.

Furthermore, Ms. Quintana's dedication to educational leadership is underscored by her administrative license in New Mexico, a testament to her commitment to driving systemic change within the education sector. Over the course of her 12-year tenure in the field, she has consistently worked to champion the principles of student advocacy, family support, and leadership development. Ms. Quintana endeavors to create a nurturing and inclusive educational environment where every student can thrive and realize their full potential.

Heidi Gomez is an Albuquerque native and a South Valley Academy alumna from our school’s first graduating class of 2004. Ms. Gomez holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance and a Master of Business Administration in Accounting and Information Assurance from the University of New Mexico. She has over 10 years of accounting experience and has been with our school since 2014. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family in the great outdoors!

Dr. Steve Eckert

Steve Eckert was born in Japan and has resided in Okinawa, Maryland, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and Italy. He earned degrees from Texas A & M University, University of NorthTexas, and the University of New Mexico. He currently holds a doctorate in Special Education with a minor in Counselor Education. Over his long career, he taught special education classes at all levels (elementary, middle and high school, and at the university level), worked as a charter school administrator, worked for the state department of education, and worked in central offices of large school districts. He is excited to be a part of this wonderful community and get to collaborate with so many wonderful students and teachers.
